Patricia (Pat) A. Seaman, senior director of marketing and communications, joined NEFE® in April 2007. She is responsible for communications, media and public relations outreach, web and social media, and marketing NEFE programs, and supports the CEO in special projects such as his service on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability. A lifelong student of personal finance, Seaman is conversant with a wide variety of financial education topics and research. Her recent media interviews include the New York Times, Associated Press, Essence, Wall Street Journal Radio, and Jean Chatzky ("The Today Show").
Prior to joining NEFE, Seaman was executive director of marketing and communications for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business (2001-2007). She worked in journalism training programs for the Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) and the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) from 1987 to 2001. In 2011 she was awarded RTDNF’s Distinguished Service Award for her collaborative work with RTDNF and NEFE. Previously she served as a public affairs officer for the Voice of America and the Peace Corps, and as a legislative aide for the United States Congress. Her journalistic experience includes writing for newspapers, including the San Jose Mercury News, and working in television news, including WJLA-TV in Washington, DC and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles.
Seaman earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and her Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Maryland. She is an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), certified by the Association for Financial Counseling Planning Education (AFCPE). She is a graduate of the Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program at Georgetown University and the Commonfund Endowment Institute at Yale University.
