In September 2014, NEFE hosted the Young Adults and Financial Capability in Washington, D.C. The event started with three presentations of NEFE-funded research:
- Life After College: Drivers for Young Adult Success, presented by Soyeon Shim, Ph.D., Joyce Serido, Ph.D., and Mike Staten, Ph.D.
- Financial Behavior, Debt, and Early Life Transitions, presented by Rachel E. Dwyer, Ph.D.
- Financial Capability Among Young Adults, presented by Annamaria Lusardi, Ph.D.
These presentations were followed by a facilitated discussion about the implications of the research. This conversation ultimately led to the development of a white paper that provides greater clarity around the context and educational needs to young adults. Approximately 30 attendees participated in the forum, including practitioners, researchers and policymakers.
