Seaman Wins Barney Oldfield Distinguished Service Award

NEW ORLEANS—The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has bestowed one of its highest honors to Patricia Seaman, senior director with the National Endowment for Financial Education. During the Excellence in Journalism 2011 Conference in New Orleans, Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) Chairman Stacey Woelfel presented Seaman with the Barney Oldfield Distinguished Service Award. The award was created in honor of RTDNF founder Col. Barney Oldfield, USAF (Ret.) to recognize those who have contributed to the growth and success of the foundation.

Past RTDNA Chairman Mark Kraham (now RTDNF Chairman) presents Seaman with the Barney Oldfield Distinguished Service Award.

"NEFE has a mission that fits perfectly with the best practices training mission of RTDNF—to assist journalists in helping educate the public on financial literacy,” Woelfel said. "Pat’s (Seaman) tireless efforts working with RTDNF to spread NEFE’s message has had a real impact."

"Receiving the Oldfield Award is a wonderful honor and it gives me great pleasure to support the work being done to help journalists provide their audiences with solid personal finance information through their reporting," says Seaman.
