Madelyn Smith

Manager, Research

Madelyn Smith is NEFE’s manager of Research, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform the organization’s national polling, internal research and policy work. She supports the organization’s research efforts by designing survey instruments, analyzing data and developing clear, innovative ways to communicate findings across diverse audiences. In addition, Madelyn leads data visualization efforts for the organization, translating complex results into accessible visuals for reports, presentations and public-facing content.

Prior to joining NEFE, Madelyn worked as a consultant for an investment firm focused on helping individuals secure their financial futures. Through this role, she gained firsthand insight into the structural and practical financial barriers that clients faced, which strengthened her commitment to financial education as a tool for promoting equity and long-term well-being.

Madelyn is a first-generation college student and graduated with honors from Bucknell University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics with a concentration in statistics. Her academic and professional interests center on the wealth gap, intergenerational mobility and economic justice. Outside of work, you will likely find Madelyn outdoors. She enjoys skiing, climbing, hiking, canyoneering, backpacking and paddleboarding, and is always looking for new ways to explore Colorado’s landscapes.
