Every April We Celebrate and Advocate the Advancement of Financial Well-Being with Financial Capability Month

April is a month dedicated to celebrating the importance of financial well-being, quality financial education, and the work being done to move the field forward. NEFE is proud to be a part of this celebration since the beginning, spearheading the project to include:

  • Celebrating financial well-being and financial education.
  • Involvement dates back to Youth Financial Literacy Day.
  • Jump$tart Coalition expanded into Youth Financial Literacy Month.
  • Financial Literacy Month formally recognized by the U.S. Senate in 2004.

For our 30th anniversary in 2022, we created our first month-long campaign during April to promote our current and emerging work and the work of recognized thought leaders. Each year since, we have used this platform to:

  • Elevate key conversations, highlight milestones, and reaffirm the mission and values that guide our work.
  • Embrace the need to encourage more financial literacy.
  • Fully support expanding the month’s focus to emphasize the importance of not only learning financial education but also having the opportunity to apply that knowledge, a concept known as financial capability..
