NEFE’s Research Funding Program: Guide for Grantseekers

NEFE’s Research Funding Program furthers the field of financial education through interdisciplinary research. NEFE opens its call for research proposals twice per year, usually in the spring and fall. Grants are awarded to projects with actionable outcomes that are directly relevant to the financial well-being of the public and broadly applicable to a variety of U.S. households or individuals.

As a private operating foundation, NEFE’s grantmaking activities do not count toward our qualified annual disbursements (unlike other types of foundations), but we’ve chosen to provide grants since our inception because helping others move the needle on financial literacy is so important to us. In NEFE’s early days, our grantmaking focused on content development. However, we now focus solely on funding interdisciplinary research that advances the field of financial education.
