Research in Action
NEFE generates rigorous research and translates it into practical insights that strengthen financial education practice and decision making across the field.
Initiatives:
Commission and conduct research to inform policy priorities and drive systemic change.
Define the return on investment (ROI) of postsecondary financial education systems.
Modernize the Evaluation Toolkit (ETK) to measure field impact.
What gap or opportunities are we addressing:
Initiative 1:
Close research gaps that limit understanding of how systems must improve to expand access, quality and impact in financial education.
Initiative 2:
Address the lack of ev idence on the impact and ROI of postsecondary financial education for individuals, communities and states.
Initiative 3:
Expand the ETK to:
Democratize research-to-practice translation.
Build evaluation capacity across K-12 and postsecondary systems.
Embed equity as a design and measurement standard.
How will we know we’re making progress?
Initiative 1:
Increase citations of NEFE-funded or NEFE-commi ssione d research among researchers, prac titioners and policymakers.
Initiative 2:
Broaden visibility of the ROI study among postsecondary leaders and use the evidence to inform NEFE’s policy agenda.
Initiative 3:
Increase adoption of ETK tools through downloads, usage and citations.
Gather quantitative and qualitative evidence on the tool's usefulness and impact.
