SFEPD Recognizes NEFE With 2025 Eagle Award

DENVER—The National Endowment for Financial Education® (NEFE®) has been named the 2025 Eagle Award recipient from the Society for Financial Education & Professional Development (SFEPD). NEFE staff accepted the award today at SFEPD’s annual Financial Literacy Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

"It's a tremendous honor to receive the Eagle Award from SFEPD, an organization we hold in high regard. Being acknowledged by Ted Daniels and his wonderful team makes this recognition especially meaningful. There are few awards in our field that are more prestigious than this, validating that NEFE is making a difference in service to effective financial education. We thank SFEPD for their collaboration and commitment. This reminds us of how much stronger we are as a field when we support one another.

-- Billy Hensley, Ph.D., president and CEO of NEFE

The Eagle Award was presented to NEFE for demonstrating pioneer leadership in financial education and making significant contributions to advancing financial literacy, particularly through the SFEPD's initiatives with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In his comments, Daniels, founder and president of SFEPD, referenced NEFE’s dedication to advancing the financial education field.

"SFEPD is proud to honor NEFE with our Eagle Award. NEFE exemplifies excellence in advancing financial education. Each member of their team generously contributes expertise, creativity and collaboration that elevate our shared mission to build financial well-being and economic mobility across communities. NEFE plays a key role in advancing SFEPD’s programs and initiatives, as it does for many other nonprofits.

-- Theodore (Ted) Daniels, founder and president of SFEPD

The Eagle Award was presented at SFEPD’s Financial Literacy Leadership Conference, an annual event for educators, financial experts, policymakers, researchers, consumers, college students and others in the financial education sector to share best practices and strategies for increasing the financial literacy skills of Americans nationwide. The theme for 2025 was “The Pursuit of Happiness: Health and Wealth.”

NEFE and SFEPD share a commitment to adopt approaches in financial education that are positioned to impact financial well-being across generations. Receiving such a prestigious award underscores the importance of our work together to cultivate and celebrate the accomplishments of the student ambassadors, especially through opportunities such as the HBCU Financial Literacy Bowl,” says Michelle Samuels-Jones, senior vice president of Equity and Engagement at NEFE.

In 2023, NEFE received SFEPD’s Visionary Award at this same conference.
